Privacy Policy

1. Information We Collect

QR Scan & Gen does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information to external servers. All data remains on your device.

The app stores the following data locally on your device only:

• QR code scan history (raw decoded value, format, timestamp)
• QR codes you generate (content, type, timestamp)
• App settings and preferences

2. Permissions Used

The app requests the following device permissions:

• Camera — required to scan QR codes and barcodes using your device camera. No images or video are saved or transmitted.
• Read External Storage / Media — allows you to select images from your gallery to scan QR codes from photos.
• Write External Storage / Media — allows you to save generated QR code images to your gallery.
• Internet — required to load advertisements and to open URLs you choose to open from scan results.
• Contacts — optional; only requested when you explicitly tap "Save to Contacts" on a vCard scan result. No contact data is read automatically.

3. Advertising

QR Scan & Gen displays advertisements provided by Huawei Petal Ads (HMS Ads SDK) on Huawei devices.

The Huawei Ads SDK may collect and use the following information to serve relevant ads:

• Device identifiers (OAID / advertising ID)
• Device model and operating system version
• Network type and approximate location (country/region)
• App usage signals for ad relevance

This data is collected and processed by Huawei in accordance with the Huawei Privacy Policy. You can opt out of personalised advertising in your device settings under Privacy > Ads.

4. Scan Results & Generated Codes

All QR code content you scan or generate is stored in a local database on your device. This data is never uploaded to any server. You can view, export, or delete your history at any time from within the app.

When you use action buttons on a scan result (such as "Open in Browser", "Save to Contacts", or "Open in Maps"), the app launches the relevant system app. Any data sharing at that point is governed by your device's system apps, not by QR Scan & Gen.

5. Third-Party Services

The app uses the following third-party SDKs:

• Huawei HMS Ads SDK — for displaying advertisements on Huawei devices. Huawei Privacy Policy
• Google ML Kit (Barcode Scanning) — for on-device QR code recognition. All processing is done locally on your device. Google ML Kit Privacy
• ZXing — open-source barcode library, no data collection.
• CameraX — Android Jetpack library for camera access, no data collection.

6. Children's Privacy

QR Scan & Gen does not knowingly collect any personal information from children under the age of 13. The app does not target children.

7. Data Retention & Deletion

All locally stored data (scan history, generated codes) can be deleted by:

• Clearing the app's history from within the app
• Clearing app data in your device's Settings > Apps > QR Scan & Gen > Storage
• Uninstalling the app

8. Security

Since QR Scan & Gen stores all data locally and does not transmit personal data to external servers, your data is protected by your device's built-in security features (screen lock, encryption).

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted at this URL. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
